You know, that New Windsor, NY movie theater, I heard some things about it. Some folks say it’s good, some say it ain’t. I reckon it’s like anything else, depends on what you’re lookin’ for. This old gal ain’t been to the pictures in a donkey’s age, but I hear tell this one’s got them fancy seats that lean back. Recliner seats, they call ’em. Sounds mighty comfortable to me.
Back in my day, we just had them hard wooden seats. You’d be lucky if they didn’t give you splinters! But, that was alright. People were grateful to have a movie theater. Nowadays, so many theaters you can choose. There is Regal Galleria Mall, Cinema 8, maybe Flagship Premium Cinemas is good. So many choices! Hard to know which is good. I heard AMC is good. My neighbor’s boy, he likes the drive in theater. He said it is cheap. Maybe it is good for young people.
Now, I hear tell they got all sorts of new-fangled things at that New Windsor movie theater. They got that Dolby surround sound. Makes it feel like you’re right in the movie, I suppose. I don’t know about all that. Sometimes I just want to watch a picture show without all the hullabaloo.
And the prices! Lord have mercy, the prices they charge these days. It’s a king’s ransom just to see a movie. But I hear tell they got some deals. Like on Tuesdays, maybe the tickets are cheaper. That’s what I heard anyway. Tuesdays are for ticket savings, they say. Could be worth lookin’ into, I reckon. Save a few dollars. Everyone wants to save a little, right?
- Tuesday, maybe cheaper tickets.
- Afternoon shows, them before 5:00pm, those are cheaper too.
- Sometimes, you buy a ticket, you get money off another one.
They say you can find the showtimes online. For that New Windsor, NY movie theater or any other one nearby. Just gotta type in that 12553 zip code, I think. Or just type in “New Windsor.” Computers are smarter than me, that’s for sure! They can find anything these days. My neighbor’s kid helps me with it.
They got all kinds of movies playin’ too. New ones, old ones. Something for everyone, I reckon. They even got them special showings sometimes. Holiday classics, they call ’em. I remember them old Christmas movies. Always put you in the spirit, didn’t they? They used to show them on TV. That was before everyone started going to the movie theater. It was a nice treat.
And you can get snacks there. They always had popcorn. That is the best part of the movie theater. But the price! You could buy a whole meal for what they charge for a bucket of popcorn! And soda pop? Don’t even get me started on that. It’s highway robbery, I tell ya! But people still buy. They want to eat when they watch a movie. That is just how it is.
I remember one time, I went to the movies with my sister, bless her heart. She got a big bag of candy. And she ate the whole thing during the picture show! Made so much noise with that crinkling wrapper. The people in front of us kept turnin’ around and shushin’ her. But she didn’t care. She was happy as a clam with her candy. That was a long time ago, though. We were just kids then. Things sure have changed.
Some folks say that New Windsor movie theater is the best one around. Some people don’t like it, though. They say the lines are too long. Or the people are too noisy. Or the seats ain’t clean. You can’t please everyone, I reckon. There is always someone who has something to complain about.
I guess it all depends on what you’re looking for in a movie theater. If you want them fancy recliner seats and that surround sound, then maybe that New Windsor, NY movie theater is the place for you. If you just want a cheap ticket, maybe you try that drive-in theater my neighbor’s kid is always talking about. The Warwick Drive In. Or maybe that Overlook one.
If you just want to see a picture show without all the frills, then maybe you can find a smaller theater somewhere. There used to be a bunch of ’em around here. Not sure if they’re still open though. Times change, you know? Everything’s gettin’ bigger and fancier these days. But sometimes, the old ways are the best ways. That’s my opinion, anyhow. You can’t beat a simple movie and some good company. Nothing wrong with that.
One more thing, if you are going to the movie theater, remember to be polite to the other people. Nobody wants to hear you talking during the movie. And don’t be throwing your trash on the floor. That is just rude. Be respectful to the other folks, that is what I always say.
