“I’m gonna carve you pretty little things up just right.” Dread + Epic have revealed an official trailer for an indie horror film called Bystanders, arriving on VOD this January. This premiered at the HorrorHounds Film Festival last year, marking the feature directorial debut of film journalist Mary Beth McAndrews (who runs Dread), where it picked up a number of awards at the end. A group of murderous frat boys get more than they bargained for when they cross paths with a couple coming home from a wedding. “Bystanders has been incredibly close to my heart since I first read Jamie Alvey’s script,” she explains. “Bystanders‘ is more important now than ever and I’m thrilled that Dread is helping us share it with the world.” The indie film revenge horror thriller features Brandi Botkin, Bob Wilcox, Garrett Murphy, Jamie Alvey, Chaney Morrow, and Hannah Fierman. Clare & Gray (Jamie Alvey & Garrett Murphy) are your typical loving millennial couple in a jaded world. Abby (Brandi Botkin) is a sweet awkward teen. When Abby attends a party held by her crush, a rich frat boy hotshot named Cody, the bash spins out of control when Cody and the boys decide to drug, rape, and hunt several of the girls in attendance. When Abby’s path intersects with Gray & Clare’s path, they form an unlikely alliance during a night of chaos & bloodshed as the trio fight for their lives against collegiate creeps. Bystanders is directed by genre producer / filmmaker Mary Beth McAndrews, who is making her feature directorial debut with this; she’s also Editor-in-Chief of Dread. The screenplay is written by actress Jamie Alvey. Produced by Jeff Seemann. This first premiered at the 2024 HorrorHound Film Festival.
