Okay, so I’ve been wanting to track down all the filming spots for “Stardust” for a while now. It’s one of those movies that just sticks with you, you know? The scenery is amazing, and I thought it would be cool to see some of it in person. So, I decided to finally take the plunge and plan out a little “Stardust” road trip.
Getting Started
First thing I did was watch the movie again, obviously. I grabbed a notebook and just started jotting down every scene that looked like it was shot on location. Lots of wide-open spaces, cliffs, that sort of thing. After that, I spent a good chunk of time online, just Googling anything that seemed relevant. I searched a lot about movie’s production. That part was kind of messy, not gonna lie. There was a ton of info scattered all over the place, some of it useful, some of it… not so much.
Mapping It Out
After I felt like I had a decent list, I started trying to match up those scenes with actual places. This was where things got tricky. I used some online resources to help pin down locations. Some were easy to find, like the village scenes, because those were mentioned pretty clearly in articles and stuff. Others were more of a pain. I had to do a lot of comparing screencaps from the movie with photos online to make sure I was getting the right spots. I kept recording what I found.
Narrowing It Down
- The village: Turns out, a lot of those scenes were shot in a place called Castle Combe in England. Super pretty little village, definitely adding that to the list.
- The cliffs: This one took a while, but I’m pretty sure I found them. Looks like they filmed a lot of those scenes at a place called Fair Head in Northern Ireland. The cliffs there are insane.
- The magical market: This was a tough one, but I eventually tracked it down. They built that whole set at Pinewood Studios in England. It’s a pity that I can’t see it in person.
- Stormhold, the witches’ lair: I tried so hard, but I couldn’t find where it is exactly.
Putting It All Together
Once I had a list of places, I started figuring out how to actually visit them. I realized I needed to book some flights, figure out transportation, all that boring stuff. I decided to start with the UK locations, since those were the most concentrated. I grabbed a map and drew the routes and marked the spots I was going to see. I estimated how long it would take to get from one place to another, and I realized that I’d need at least a week to do it justice. I booked my flights, and I got a rental car for when I’m over there.
What’s Next
So yeah, that’s where I’m at right now. I’ve got my flights booked, my route planned, and I’m just counting down the days until I can actually go. I’m super excited to see these places in person. I know it’s just a movie, but it’s one of those stories that just feels magical, and I think it’ll be really cool to experience a little bit of that magic for myself. I’m going to take a lot of pictures, and I might even try to recreate some of the scenes, just for fun. Who knows, maybe I’ll even find some more spots that I missed during my initial research.
I’ll definitely keep you guys updated on how it all goes. Wish me luck!
