Alright, listen up, y’all! We gonna talk about them picture shows in that there New Bedford place. You know, where them young’uns go to watch stuff on the big screen.

I tell ya, back in my day, we didn’t have no fancy movie theaters like these city folks got now. We just sat around the radio and listened to stories. But these young folks, they like to see things moving, I guess. So, they got these movie places all over.
Now, if you wanna find a movie in New Bedford, it ain’t hard. Just gotta know where to look. They got this thing called the “Fandango,” or somethin’ like that. Sounds like a dance, don’t it? Well, it ain’t no dance. It’s where you find out what movies are playin’ and when.

- They got this place called the “AMC Dartmouth Mall 11”. Big place, I hear. Lots of screens, so you got plenty of choices.
- Then there’s the “Showcase Cinemas Seekonk Route 6”. Sounds fancy, right? Probably got comfy seats, maybe even them recliners. My old bones would sure like that.
- Oh, and don’t forget the “Picture Show at SouthCoast Market Place”. Market place, huh? Maybe you can get some snacks there too. Popcorn and such.
- And this “Strand Theatre” place. Sounds old-timey. Maybe they play them old black and white movies there. I’d like that. Reminds me of when I was a young gal.
They say you can even find movies near that 02746 place. That’s a number, right? City folks and their numbers. Confusin’ if you ask me. But if you live around there, I guess it helps you find a movie close by.
New movies, old movies, all sorts of movies!
Now, they got all sorts of movies playin’. Some are new, some are old. Some are for kids, some are for grown-ups. Me, I like them stories with cowboys and horses. Or maybe a good love story. None of that fancy sci-fi stuff, though. Too much noise and explosions for my taste.
They even got these things called “trailers.” They show you little bits of the movie before you watch the whole thing. Kind of like a sneak peek, I guess. Helps you decide if you wanna spend your hard-earned money on a ticket.
Showtimes and ratings, what does it all mean?
And they got these “showtimes.” That’s just when the movie starts, nothin’ fancy. But you gotta pay attention, or you’ll miss the beginnin’. And they got these “ratings” too. Tells you if the movie is okay for kids or not. G, PG, PG-13, R… Too many letters if you ask me. Just tell me if it’s got bad words or scary stuff, that’s all I need to know.
