Alright, let’s talk about them Platteville movies, you know, the ones they show in that big building downtown. I ain’t too fancy with words, so I’ll just tell ya like it is.
First off, there’s this Millennium Cinema place. Sounds all highfalutin, don’t it? But it’s just a place where ya go to see them moving pictures. They got all sorts of movies, ya know? Some are funny, some make ya cry, and some, well, they just make ya scratch your head and wonder what in tarnation was goin’ on.
They got this here website, or whatever them young folks call it, where ya can see what movies are playin’. It’s like lookin’ at a big poster, but on that little screen they all carry around. You can see the times and even buy tickets, which is mighty convenient, I reckon. No more waitin’ in line like we used to, which is good, ’cause my old bones ain’t up for that no more.
- Showtimes: They got ’em all listed out, plain as day.
- Tickets: You can buy ’em online, saves ya a trip.
- Movie Info: They tell ya what the movie’s about, who’s in it, and all that stuff. Sometimes I read it, sometimes I just go in blind. Surprises are nice sometimes, ya know?
Now, they also got this other place, Avalon Cinema. I ain’t been there much, but I hear it’s good too. It’s another one of them movie theaters, ya see. Same kinda deal, they show movies, ya buy tickets, ya sit down and watch. Nothin’ too complicated.
I tell ya, these movies these days, they’re somethin’ else. They got colors poppin’ out all over the place, and the sound, oh Lordy, it’s loud! Sometimes too loud for my old ears, but the young folks, they seem to like it. And the stories, well, they’re wild. They got superheroes flyin’ around, and cars racin’ at a hundred miles an hour, and folks fallin’ in love and breakin’ up. It’s like watchin’ another world, right there in front of ya.
Finding showtimes is easy peasy. Like I said, ya got that website thingy, or ya can just call ’em up on the phone. They got a number ya can dial, and a real person will tell ya what’s playin’. That’s how I like to do it, talkin’ to a person is always better than lookin’ at that dang screen.

And buying tickets, well, that’s up to you. You can do it online, or ya can get ’em at the theater. I like gettin’ ’em at the theater, ’cause then I can chat with the folks workin’ there. They’re always friendly, and they’ll tell ya which movies are good and which ones to skip. They know their stuff, them youngsters.
Now, about them movie reviews, I don’t pay ’em much mind. Everyone’s got their own opinion, ya know? What one person likes, another person might hate. I say, go see the movie yourself and decide if ya like it or not. Don’t let some fancy fella in a big city tell ya what to think.
The actors and actresses, well, they’re just folks, same as us. They just happen to be on that big screen. Some are good, some are bad, but they’re all tryin’ their best, I reckon. And the plot summaries, they’re helpful sometimes, but sometimes they give away too much. Like I said, surprises are nice.
So, if you’re ever in Platteville and you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do, go see a movie. It’s a good way to pass the time, and it might even make ya think or feel somethin’. Just remember to bring your glasses if ya need ’em, and maybe a sweater, ’cause them theaters can get chilly. And don’t forget the popcorn! Can’t watch a movie without popcorn, that’s just plain wrong.
They also got different kinds of movies, not just the ones with all the explosions and such. Sometimes they have them cartoons, which are fun for the grandkids, and sometimes they have them old-timey movies, which remind me of when I was a young gal. It’s good to have a little bit of everything, keeps things interestin’, ya know?

And let me tell ya, the seats in them theaters these days are somethin’ else. Big and comfy, some of ’em even recline! Back in my day, we just sat on hard wooden benches, and if ya were lucky, ya got a cushion. These young folks, they got it so easy, they don’t even know how good they got it.
So there ya have it, my two cents on them Platteville movies. Go see one, go see ’em all, just get out there and have some fun. Life’s too short to be sittin’ at home, starin’ at the wall. Go on now, git outta here and enjoy yourself.
