Mads Mikkelsen and Boyd Holbrook are headed to the Fair City for their next feature directorial! The filming of ‘Last Meals’ will begin in Dublin, Ireland, in the fall of this year.  Ramin Bahrani will direct the movie based on a story by Justin Piasecki.

The story follows Walter Karat (Mikkelsen), a former Michelin-starred chef who once worked at the White House but now, 20-plus years later, works at a federal correctional institution, cooking meals for the inmates. When death row inmate Jeffrey Reed (Holbrook) refuses to eat his meal, Walter must find out why. He learns that Reed, who believes he is innocent, is on a hunger strike. Then, when Hannah Corddry, a local food critic, helps Reed bring his story to light, Walter inadvertently becomes the target of the media. However, his new friendship with Reed and Hannah brings him out of his shell, transforming him into a political warrior bent on saving Reed, although the fight may cost him his reputation.

Mads Mikkelsen’s latest feature film performances include Ludvig Kahlen in ‘The Promised Land,’ Dr. Voller in ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,’ and Gellert Grindelwald in ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.’ He also voiced Kiros, the leader of a pride of white lions, in ‘Mufasa: The Lion King.’ As for TV shows, he is very well-known among fans as Dr. Hannibal Lecter from NBC’s crime drama series ‘Hannibal.’

Holbrook is known for playing DEA agent Steve Murphy in ‘Narcos’ and the Corinthian in ‘The Sandman.’ He played Johnny Cash in the biographical drama ‘A Complete Unknown,’ based on the life of Bob Dylan. The actor’s other popular credits include Donald Pierce in Hugh Jackman-starrer ‘Logan,’ Quinn McKenna in ‘The Predator,’ and Thomas Lockhart in ‘In the Shadow of the Moon.’ Holbrook’s recent credits include Clement Mansell in ‘Justified: City Primeval,’ Klaber in ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,’ and Ty Shaw in ‘Vengeance,’ Tynan in ‘Beckett.’

Ramin Bahrani’s latest directorial credits include the sci-fi thriller ‘Fahrenheit 451,’ starring Michael B. Jordan, and the crime drama ‘The White Tiger,’ based on Aravind Adiga’s eponymous novel. He also directed ’99 Homes,’ a crime drama about a man and his boss, a real estate agent who evicted him from his home.

Dublin recently hosted the filming of ‘In the Land of Saints and Sinners’ and ‘The Pope’s Exorcist.’
