Okay, so I’m going to tell you about the time I went to see where they filmed “The Notebook.” I’ve always loved that movie, the romance, the drama, all of it. So, naturally, when I found myself near Charleston, South Carolina, I jumped at the chance to see some of the spots where Noah and Allie’s love story unfolded.
First things first, I did some digging online to figure out where to go. Turns out, most of the movie was filmed around Charleston. I found a list of about 12 places, but some were private homes, so those were off-limits. I figured I could hit up the ones that were open to the public in a day, and that’s exactly what I did.
The American Theater
My first stop was The American Theater on King Street. This is where Noah and Allie had their first date. I stood outside, took some pictures, and tried to imagine them walking down the street, young and in love. It was pretty cool to see it in person.
I also learned that a lot of the movie revolves around a place called Seabrook Island. But in reality, Seabrook is just a made-up town, and a lot of those scenes were actually filmed in different parts of Charleston and other nearby islands.
I read about this mansion on Wadmalaw Island, the one Noah fixes up in the movie. It’s a private residence, so I couldn’t go there. But apparently, it was a big deal for the movie’s story, you know, Noah restoring the old house to win Allie back. Sounds cheesy, but it worked in the movie.
- Went to The American Theater on King Street.
- Discovered Seabrook is a fictional town.
- Found out about the mansion on Wadmalaw Island.
And get this, I read something crazy about Netflix changing the ending of the movie! Apparently, there’s an alternate version out there, and some people saw that one instead of the original. They later clarified that they didn’t change anything, but still, it’s wild to think there’s a different ending floating around somewhere.

Anyway, the whole experience was pretty awesome. It was a bit of a bummer that I couldn’t see everything, but just being in the same city where they filmed “The Notebook” was enough for me. It definitely made me want to go home and watch the movie again!
