Okay, so I’ve been digging into this whole “found footage horror movies” thing from 2023, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. First off, I started by just hitting up the usual spots – you know, Hulu, Netflix, HBO Max, and a couple of others. I figured they’d have the latest and greatest, right?
I made a list to see what horror movies were available on these platforms. I gotta say, the sheer number of movies was overwhelming. But hey, that’s a good problem to have if you’re a horror fanatic like me.
Then, I decided to narrow it down a bit. I remembered hearing some buzz about a movie called ‘#Blue_Whale’. It’s about this rebellious schoolgirl, Dana, who’s dealing with her younger sister’s death. Creepy, right? So, I watched the movie. It’s pretty intense, and the found footage style really adds to the whole eerie vibe.
After that, I stumbled upon ‘Knock at the Cabin’ by M. Night Shyamalan. Now, I’m a big fan of his work, and this one didn’t disappoint. The way he uses the found footage technique is just brilliant, very suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
Here’s a little breakdown of what I watched:
- #Blue_Whale: Seriously creepy, deals with some heavy stuff.
- Knock at the Cabin: Classic M. Night Shyamalan, super suspenseful.
- M3GAN: I heard it premiered in January, and everyone was talking about it.
I also heard about this movie ‘The Deliverance’. Supposedly, it’s based on a true story about some family, the Ammons, who moved into this house in Gary back in 2011. Apparently, some seriously spooky stuff went down there. I haven’t watched it yet, but it’s definitely on my list.
There’s also this one found footage film that’s all about isolation horror. The visuals are supposed to be super intense, and the story is gripping. I’m really into these kinds of movies where the setting itself is a character, so I’m planning to check this one out soon.
Anyway, that’s where I’m at with my found footage horror movie journey for 2023. I’ll keep watching and let you guys know if I find any other gems. It’s a lot of fun, but I definitely recommend watching these with the lights on – unless you’re braver than I am!
And that’s where I am so far. I’ll keep digging and let you all know if I find any other hidden gems. It’s pretty fun, to be honest. Stay tuned for more!
