Cutting-edge technology, cost effectiveness, and “unlimited creativity.” That is what Spain’s Pedralonga Estudios promised at a launch event for its new virtual production facility Coruña Immersive Studio (CEI) on the third day of the fifth edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria in Madrid, Spain.
It is equipped with “state-of-the-art immersive technology capable of recreating hyper-realistic environments that drive both the national and international media industry,” according to press materials.
Under the title “Innovation and Efficiency: Discover the Future of Content Production,” the event, attended by industry representatives from Spain and foreign countries, featured comments from José Manuel Deus, managing director of Pedralonga Estudios, Rosa Ana García, County Council member for industry, business, environment, employment, and demographic policy of A Coruña, Miguel Ovejero, deputy director general for audiovisual communication services regulation at the Secretariat of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA), and Alfonso Blanco, president of the Galician Audiovisual Cluster (CLAG).
“CEI is set to make its mark on Spanish media production thanks to its advanced technological infrastructure,” promise information materials about the new facility. “Among its main attractions is a 750 square meter virtual studio equipped with a semi-circular LED wall measuring 28 meters wide by 6 meters high and offering 4K resolution with a 1.9 pixel pitch definition, which optimizes costs and expands creative possibilities for national and international productions.”

The facility’s development involved an investment of “close to 9.0 million euros ($10.6 million),” supported by the Spanish government through the Next Generation EU Funds and others. The complex is managed by Pedralonga Estudios, which launched in 2024 and brings together CLAG, the University of A Coruña and a group of 10 leading Galician media companies.
“Pedralonga Estudios and CEI complete a perfect cocktail that positions Galicia as the ideal filming destination”, offering other attractions such as its more than 30 years of experience, internationally renowned production companies, first-rate crew and talent, unrivalled landscape diversity, and public subsidies that facilitate co-production and encourage the attraction of film shoots, said Blanco.
