Secuoya Studios will receive the 2025 MIP SDG Award at MIPCOM Cannes in recognition of its sustainable production program. The award, presented in association with the United Nations, acknowledges companies advancing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals through their work in television and streaming.
The Madrid-based studio, whose productions include such series as Shades (Matices), Montecristo and Zorro, has become a leading advocate for environmentally responsible production practices in Spain. The award highlights Secuoya initiatives, including the Greenbook Sustainable Filming Protocol, developed with eco-consultancy Mrs. Greenfilm; the establishment of a Sustainable Management Seal, the first independently audited environmental certification of its kind in Spain; and the creation of a dedicated sustainability department which assigns an Eco Manager to each production.
“At Secuoya Studios, we view sustainability as a guiding commitment that shapes the way we create, produce, and share content with the world,” said Secuoya CEO Brendan Fitzgerald in a statement. “It’s a commitment based on belief in innovation, technology, and strategic alliances that drive lasting change. Beyond the honour itself, having this stage at MIPCOM allows us to demonstrate just how universally adoptable many of these practices can be.”
The award will be presented at MIPCOM in Cannes on October 15 by Caroline Petit, Deputy Director of the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Europe, during a session on industry sustainability practices. Previous recipients of the MIP SDG Award include A+E Networks, Sky, and Studio Silverback.

The 2025 MIPCOM Cannes runs Oct. 13-16.
