Alright, so you wanna know about that Star Wars movie poster, the one they call “A New Hope”, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, I ain’t no fancy movie expert or nothin’, but I seen a thing or two in my time, and I can tell ya what I know. This here Star Wars thing, it was a big deal back in the day, a real big deal. Everybody was talkin’ ‘bout it.

First off, they got this fella, Drew Struzan. Now, he’s the one who drew up a whole bunch of them movie posters. Not just this Star Wars one, but lots of others too. Folks say he’s real good at it, made pictures for all sorts of movies. He did that one with the fella runnin’ from jail, Shaw- somethin’ or other. And that one with the little alien, E.T. Yeah, he’s the man when it comes to makin’ pictures that make you wanna see a movie.

Now, this “A New Hope” poster, it ain’t just any ol’ picture. It’s got all sorts of stuff goin’ on. You got that Luke fella, lookin’ all young and eager, and that Princess Leia, she’s a real firecracker. And then there’s Han Solo, that fella with the smirk, and Chewbacca, that big hairy fella. They’re all standin’ there, lookin’ like they’re ready for a fight.

And the bad guys! Oh, them bad guys are somethin’ else. You got Darth Vader, all in black, lookin’ scary as heck. And them stormtroopers, all lined up, lookin’ like they’re gonna cause trouble. And that big ol’ space station, the Death Star, it’s just hangin’ there in the background, lookin’ all menacing.

I heard tell that these posters, the real ones, they ain’t easy to come by. They printed a whole bunch of ’em, but the first ones, the ones they used in the movie theaters, them’s the ones people want. They call ‘em “original US style A theatrical use movie posters”. That’s a mouthful, ain’t it? Means they used ‘em in the picture shows when the movie first came out.

And get this, they even printed ’em at different times! So, you got this first printin’, then a second, then a third, and so on. They even got a little number on ‘em sometimes, so you know which one it is. The one I seen, it said it was the fourth printin’, done right there in 1977, the same year the movie came out. And it had that “Star Wars” writin’ down at the bottom, on the right side.

  • How to Spot a Real One: Now, I ain’t got no fancy tools, but I heard tell you can look at the little dots that make up the picture, the color dots. If them dots are all round and perfect, then it’s a real one. You gotta use a lookin’ glass, a strong one, to see it though. Thirty power, they say. Sounds powerful, don’t it?
  • The Story Behind the Picture: This here Star Wars movie, it’s about good versus evil, like all them stories. You got this young fella, Luke, and he’s gotta save the princess and fight the bad guys. It’s a space story, with spaceships and lasers and all that. They say it all started “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….” That’s what it says at the beginnin’ of the movie, right before the “Star Wars” words come flyin’ at ya.

Anyways, that poster, it’s more than just a picture. It’s a piece of history, a reminder of a time when folks went crazy for a movie ‘bout space and heroes and villains. It takes you right back to that time, makes you wanna grab some popcorn and cheer for the good guys. And that, my friend, is why that “Star Wars: A New Hope” poster is somethin’ special.

So if you’re lookin’ to get your hands on one, be careful, there’s a lot of fakes out there. But if you find a real one, hold on to it tight. It’s a piece of movie magic, that’s what it is. And that’s all I got to say about that.
