Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Emoji Movie thing. I watched it with the grandkids the other day, and lemme tell ya, it was somethin’ else.
First off, this movie is about these little emoji fellas livin’ inside a phone. Yeah, you heard that right, a phone! They got all sorts, happy ones, sad ones, even a poop one. Kids thought that was hilarious, of course. The main guy, he’s named Gene. Poor fella, he ain’t got just one face, he’s got all sorts of ’em. Can’t stick to just one, ya know? That’s a problem for an emoji, I guess.
So, Gene, he goes on this big adventure. Wants to be a regular emoji, just like the others. He meets up with a couple of other emojis, a high-five one and a codebreaker. They go all over the phone, through different apps and stuff. It was kinda like a cartoon travel show, but inside a phone.
- They went to this place called Candy Crush, looked mighty tasty, I tell ya.
- Then they went to some music app, loud and noisy, didn’t care for it much.
- And they even went to the trash can, that place was a mess, just like my grandson’s room!
Now, some folks say this movie is about bein’ yourself and helpin’ others, and I guess I can see that. Gene, he learns to be okay with his many faces, and he helps his friends along the way. That’s a good message, I reckon. Always be yourself, that’s what I tell the grandkids.
But honestly, this movie was just a bunch of colors and noise to me. Lots of stuff happenin’ all at once, hard to keep up sometimes. The grandkids liked it, though, so I guess that’s what matters. They were laughin’ and pointin’ at the screen, havin’ a grand ol’ time.
I heard some folks talkin’ ‘bout how this movie has somethin’ to do with religion, with them old Christian symbols and such. Well, I didn’t see nothin’ like that. Maybe I missed it, or maybe it was just too fancy for me. All I saw was a bunch of talkin’ emojis runnin’ around.
This movie is supposed to be funny, and I guess it was, in parts. But mostly, it was just… meh. Like when you make a cake and forget the sugar. It looks nice, but it don’t taste like much. That’s how I felt about this Emoji Movie.
Now, some of them movie folks say this Gene fella’s story is like a gay metaphor or somethin’. The director, he put his own story in there, ’bout growin’ up different. Well, I don’t know nothin’ ‘bout that, but I guess it’s good to be yourself, no matter who you are or what faces you make. That’s what the movie’s tryin’ to say, I think.
So, would I recommend this Emoji Movie? Well, if you got kids, they might like it. It’s colorful and loud, and there’s a poop emoji, what more could a kid want? But if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ deep and meaningful, well, this ain’t it. It’s just a movie ’bout emojis livin’ in a phone, nothin’ more, nothin’ less.
Overall, it was an okay movie. Not the best I’ve ever seen, but not the worst neither. Just a bunch of emojis doin’ their thing inside a phone. And that’s all I gotta say ‘bout that.
