Network morning and daytime talk show hosts kept things light this year when they continued their annual Halloween costume traditions.
Pop culture faves from throwback TV, film and music icons to more recent trending phenomena took center stage as the hosts avoided controversial choices.
NBC’s Today show, the only major network morning show to see its hosts sport costumes in recent years, used a cross-country road trip and pop-culture icons associated with various U.S. locations as its theme. ABC’s Good Morning America has not had its hosts dress up for Halloween in recent years. And CBS’ morning show hosts typically don’t wear costumes for the holiday.
Syndicated Disney daytime stalwart Live! With Kelly and Mark presented its annual Halloween extravaganza, this year titled “It’s Trending,” with multiple costumes, ranging from Labubus to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to characters from Severance and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Though The View has had Halloween-themed episodes in past years, this year the hosts didn’t wear costumes but did take part in a Freaky Friday-inspired body swap opening skit, featuring a guest appearance from Jamie Lee Curtis.

And daytime Halloween costume mainstays The Talk and The Real have ended their runs.
Elsewhere in daytime, The Kelly Clarkson Show went with a film noir theme; The Jennifer Hudson Show did a soulful celebration of the 1970s, incorporating her well-known Spirit Tunnel for a “Spirit of the ’70s”-themed show; and Sherri Shepherd’s Sherri thought inside the box with a “TV takeover” theme seeing the host dress as Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Morticia Addams from Wednesday, Jaleel White’s Steve Urkel from Family Matters, a Love Island USA bombshell and Barbara Eden’s Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie.
While past years have seen some repeats among the talk-show costumes, this year featured fewer duplicates though both Today‘s Sheinelle Jones and Live! With Kelly and Mark announcer Deja Vu dressed as Beyoncé and both Kelly and Mark and Sherri included Love Island USA-inspired bombshell costumes.

Today
On the NBC morning show, hosts Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin, Carson Daly and Jenna Bush Hager hopped into a car for a cross-country road trip, where they and their colleagues dressed as pop-culture figures associated with various places. They stopped first in New Jersey where a discussion about musicians from the Garden State turned into Dylan Dreyer performing as Frankie Valli. Then a trip to Philadelphia saw Daly and Al Roker dress as Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and Clubber Lang (Mr. T) from Rocky III. A stop in California led to an appearance from Laura Jarrett as Saved by the Bell‘s Lisa Turtle (Lark Voorhees), complete with a cameo from the actor behind A.C. Slater, Mario Lopez, reprising his role in the beloved high school series. Stops in Vegas and Minneapolis led to a performances from Willie Geist’s Wayne Newton and a purple-clad Melvin as Prince, doing “Purple Rain.” Continuing to head back east, the Today car stopped in Houston, Texas for a performance from Jones’ Beyoncé in her Cowboy Carter era. Then a trip to Florida brought out Peter Alexander’s Jimmy Buffett. And returning to New York, Savannah Guthrie took on The Devil Wears Prada‘s Miranda Priestly, who met up with the character’s rumored real-life inspiration Anna Wintour (Jenna Bush Hager), with Guthrie and Bush Hager playfully ribbing each other before Vogueing.
Live! With Kelly and Mark
The Disney syndicated show never misses a chance to go all out for Halloween. For this year’s show, the first in their new studio, married hosts Ripa and Consuelos went for a Severance-inspired opening with Ripa as Britt Lower’s Helly R and Consuelos as Adam Scott’s Mark S. The two, as their Severance characters, also recreated the memorable Coldplay “kiss cam” scandal.
After a performance from the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, Ripa and Consuelos took the stage in Labubu costumes.

They also dressed as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce twice: Once for a segment inspired by the duo’s memorable New Heights podcast episode and later when they wore outfits similar to the ensembles Swift and Kelce wore in their engagement announcement.
And they dressed as Hamilton characters for their interview with Leslie Odom Jr., also sporting a Hamilton-inspired costume, and the Fantastic Four duo of Sue Storm and Reed Richards as played by Vanessa Kirby and Pedro Pascal, respectively, in this summer’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

A “Kitchen Idol” segment featured guest appearances from former co-host Ryan Seacrest and American Idol judge Lionel Richie as Ripa dressed as Chappell Roan, Consuelos took on Benson Boone and Déjà Vu made an appearance as Beyoncé.
And they took on Love Island USA in a “Love Island: The Play” segment, in which Ripa and Consuelos played contestants on the reality series and producer Michael Gelman showed up as a Love Island bombshell.

The Kelly Clarkson Show
Kelly Clarkson took on another star musician, dressing as Madonna’s Dick Tracy character Breathless Mahoney, complete with short, curly blond hair and a red satin dress. For her 1940s-inspired black-and-white film noir mystery, she brought in guests Leanne Morgan, Lance Bass, Amber Ruffin and magician Kid Ace to help solve the case.
Sherri
Sherri Shepherd highlighted four famous small-screen characters in her “TV Takeover” episode. She wore a black velvet and lace gown for a Catherine Zeta Jones-inspired version of Wednesday‘s Morticia Addams.
She put on suspenders and glasses as part of her transformation into Family Matters‘ Steve Urkel, joined by show alums Reginald VelJohnson and Jo Marie Payton.

She went glam in a purple bathing suit as a Love Island bombshell.
And she wore balloon pants and a vest for her I Dream of Jeannie ensemble.

The Jennifer Hudson Show celebrated Halloween with a “Spirit of the ’70s” episode in which the host used the show’s Spirit Tunnel as a dance portal to the past as part of her transformation into a ’70s diva. She was joined by original Soul Train dancers and Megan Thee Stallion for the episode.
