Well, let me tell ya, them horror movie vinyl records, they ain’t for the faint of heart, no sirree! My old man, he used to say, “Them spooky sounds, they’ll curdle yer blood faster than a bad batch of milk.” And you know what? He weren’t wrong.

I remember this one time, we was listenin’ to this record, somethin’ called “The Exorcist.” Ooh wee, that thing gave me the shivers somethin’ fierce. The music, it was all screechy and weird, like a cat fightin’ with a rusty gate. And them voices, whisperin’ and moanin’, made my hair stand on end. I swear, I thought the devil himself was gonna pop outta the speakers!

Now, I ain’t no expert on music, mind you. I like a good ol’ country tune, somethin’ with a fiddle and a banjo. But these horror movie records, they’re somethin’ else entirely. They got all sorts of strange noises, like creakin’ doors and howlin’ winds. Makes ya feel like you’re walkin’ through a graveyard at midnight.

  • Some folks, they like that kinda thing, I guess. Gets their adrenaline pumpin’, they say. Me? I’d rather listen to a rooster crowin’ any day.
  • But I gotta admit, some of them records, they got a certain…charm. Like that “Halloween” one. That music, it’s so simple, just a few notes on a piano, but it’s creepy as all get out. It makes you feel like somethin’s watchin’ you, just waitin’ to pounce.

And then there’s this other one, “Psycho.” That shower scene, with the screechin’ violins? Lord have mercy! It’ll make you wanna lock all yer doors and windows and hide under the bed. My nephew, he tried to listen to that one while he was takin’ a shower. Nearly jumped outta his skin, he did! Slipped and fell, cracked his head on the tub. Had to take him to the hospital. Doctor said he had a concussion, but I reckon it was just plain old fright.

I tell ya, them horror movie composers, they know how to scare the bejesus outta ya. They use all sorts of tricks, like sudden loud noises and spooky melodies. And they always know just when to make it quiet, real quiet, so you can hear every little creak and groan. That’s when they get ya. That’s when you start jumpin’ at every little sound.

I ain’t sayin’ you shouldn’t listen to these records. If you like a good scare, then go right ahead. But just be warned, they ain’t for the weak of spirit. And don’t listen to ’em alone at night, unless you wanna end up sleepin’ with the lights on. My grandma used to say, “Them dark corners, they hold secrets. And sometimes, them secrets come out to play.” And believe you me, them horror movie records, they know all about them secrets.

I heard tell there’s folks collectin’ these records now, payin’ good money for ’em. Can you believe it? I guess one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, as they say. Me, I’d rather have a good quilt and a warm cup of tea. But hey, to each their own. Just don’t expect me to listen to them spooky sounds with ya. My heart ain’t what it used to be, and I ain’t lookin’ to speed up my trip to the pearly gates.

So there you have it. My two cents on them horror movie vinyl records. Take it or leave it. Just remember what I said about them dark corners and them secrets. And maybe keep a crucifix handy, just in case.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my biscuits. And I’m puttin’ on some nice, cheerful gospel music. Somethin’ to chase away them spooky thoughts. You know, just in case.
