Alright, so I wanted to find some good horror movies to watch, and I heard MGM+ has a decent selection. So, I went ahead and checked it out.
First, I browsed through their horror section. They’ve got this list of “Most Popular Horror Movies” trending in 2023, which seemed like a good place to start. They have a way to sort the movies by different things like “Reelgood score,” “IMDB score,” “popularity,” and “release date.”
I started messing around with the sorting options. I figured I’d look at the most popular ones first. The list shuffled around, showing me what other people were watching the most. Honestly, there were some titles I’d never heard of, and a few classics I’d seen a bunch of times.
Then I thought, “Maybe I should check out the highest-rated ones.” So, I sorted by the Reelgood score, whatever that is. I guess it’s some kind of overall rating they use. The list changed again, and a bunch of movies I’d never seen popped up at the top.
After that, I tried sorting by IMDB score, that website with all the movie reviews. And you know what? The list was different again! This made me think, different platforms have different ideas about what’s a “good” movie.
I also checked out some articles about the best horror movies on MGM+. I found one that listed some sci-fi and horror picks. It mentioned this movie called “The Satan Bug,” a 1965 thriller. The title sounded pretty wild, but the article made it seem more like an old-school Cold War thing, not a super scary satanic movie.
- Most Popular: I checked out what was trending.
- Reelgood Score: I tried sorting by this score to see the “best” according to their system.
- IMDB Score: I also sorted by IMDB score to see what other users liked.
- Release Date: I looked at new releases and older stuff.
I ended up making a list of some movies that looked interesting, based on all this messing around. I took some notes about the movies that got good scores on both Reelgood and IMDB. I also added a couple that were just super popular, even if the ratings weren’t super high. And I threw in a few older ones that just sounded cool.
It was a bit of work, but I feel like I found some good stuff to watch. Now I’ve got a solid list of horror movies to check out on MGM+. We’ll see how good they actually are!
My Final Thoughts
Honestly, it was fun looking through all these movies. It took some time, but it was cool to see the different ways to find good stuff to watch. Now, I’ve got a bunch of MGM+ horror movies on my list, and I’m excited to start watching them.
