Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Trolls movie. Folks been talkin’ ‘bout it, so I figured, why not? I ain’t no fancy movie critic or nothin’, just a regular person watchin’ a movie.
First off, them Trolls, they sure are colorful little things. Always singin’ and dancin’, kinda like them crickets in the summertime, but way louder. And sparkly! My goodness, so much sparkle. Reminds me of my grandbaby’s glitter glue, gets everywhere. But it’s cheerful, I guess. Makes ya wanna tap yer feet, even if you got creaky old bones like mine.
Now, this movie, it ain’t just about singin’ and dancin’. There’s a story in there, somethin’ ‘bout family and gettin’ along. They say families don’t gotta be perfect to be happy. Ain’t that the truth? Lord knows, my family ain’t perfect. We got our squabbles and misunderstandin’s, just like everyone else. But we still love each other, even when we’re drivin’ each other crazy. It’s like that with these Trolls, too.
- One thing I noticed is they got these scary lookin’ creatures called Bergens. Big and grumpy, always wantin’ to eat the Trolls. Kinda like them hawks that go after my chickens, always gotta be watchin’ out for ‘em.
- And there’s spiders too! Big ol’ hairy spiders. Now, I ain’t scared of much, but spiders… they give me the willies.
So, if you got little ones, real little ones, maybe this movie’s a bit too scary for ‘em. All that chasin’ and eatin’… might give ‘em nightmares. But if they’re a bit older, like my grandbaby, they’ll probably be fine. She’s tough as nails, that one.
The movie’s got a good message, though. About bein’ brave and stickin’ together. And about not lettin’ fear control ya. That’s somethin’ we all could use a reminder of now and then, ain’t it? Fear can make ya do all sorts of foolish things. It’s like when that big storm came through last year, some folks were so scared they holed up in their basements for days, even though it wasn’t that bad. Gotta be brave, gotta face yer fears.
There’s this one part where them Trolls are gettin’ chased. Runnin’ and hidin’, tryin’ to get away from them Bergens. Reminded me of when I was a young’un, playin’ hide-and-seek in the woods. Only difference is, we weren’t tryin’ to get eaten! And then there’s these two fellers, Velvet and Veneer, they’re something else. Fightin’ off the Trolls, kickin’ and punchin’… It’s a bit wild, I tell ya.
Now, I heard some folks sayin’ this movie ain’t got much to do with church or God or nothin’. And maybe that’s true, on the surface. But I reckon there’s still some good lessons in there. About lovin’ yer neighbor, even if they’re different from ya. And about forgivin’ those who hurt ya. That’s what Jesus taught us, ain’t it? To love one another, just like He loves us. Even if they’re glittery singing Trolls, or grumpy hungry Bergens.
And there’s this whole thing about bein’ yourself, not tryin’ to be someone you’re not. That’s important too. God made each of us special, unique. We ain’t supposed to be carbon copies of each other. We’re supposed to shine our own light, be our own kind of beautiful. And these Trolls, they sure do shine. They got this bright, happy spirit, even when things get tough.
So, overall, I’d say this Trolls movie is a pretty good one. It’s fun, it’s got a good message, and it’ll make ya smile. And ain’t that what we all need a little more of these days? A little bit of sunshine, a little bit of laughter, a little bit of hope. Even if it comes from a bunch of sparkly singin’ Trolls.
Oh, and I heard tell there’s kissin’ in this movie, even some folks thinkin’ it might be a bit “LGBTQ+.” Well, I say, love is love. God made us all, and if two people wanna love each other, that’s their business. Long as they’re kind and treat each other right, that’s all that matters. Ain’t got no time for hatin’ in this world, it’s too short as it is.
So, go see the movie. Take yer kids, take yer grandkids, take yer neighbor. And don’t forget the popcorn. Everything’s better with popcorn.
