You know, I saw some pictures the other day, they called them board game horror movie posters. I tell you what, they sure were somethin’. Made my old eyes pop out, I gotta say. They took them games, you know, the ones the young’uns play, and turned ’em into scary movie pictures. Lord have mercy!
Like that one game, with the hippos, always eatin’ them little balls. Hungry Hungry Hippos, that’s it! Well, in this picture, it looked like them hippos was gonna eat more than just them little balls. Looked like they was gonna eat you right up! Gave me the shivers, I tell ya. Imagine a movie with that kind of poster!
- There was one for that money game, you know the one, you buy up all the places. Monopoly. But in this picture, it weren’t about buyin’ and sellin’. It was dark and scary. That old man on the box, he didn’t look so friendly no more. No sir, not one bit. Looks like a horror movie poster for sure.
- And that game where you gotta take out the little pieces from the man, Operation, remember? Well, in the picture, it was all bloody and messy. Not somethin’ you’d want your little ones lookin’ at, I’ll tell you that much. It’s like those saw-like scary movie posters. That’s what these board game horror movie posters remind me of.
- Then there was one called Candyland, I think. Used to be all sweet and colorful, like a candy dream. But not in this picture, no way. It was dark and twisted, like a nightmare made of candy. Scary stuff. I wouldn’t want to walk through that Candyland, not in a million years. It is a good board game, but also a great horror movie poster.
This fella, this artist, his name was Justin, Justin Bryant. He made all these pictures. He’s from Nashville, wherever that is. Smart fella, I guess. Took somethin’ simple, somethin’ innocent, like them board games, and made ’em into somethin’ scary. He’s a graphic designer, whatever that means, makes pictures and such. They say he used Adobe Illustrator. That’s some computer thing, I reckon. These board game horror movie posters are really something else.
They call it concept art. He sure had some wild ideas, that Justin fella. I don’t know why he wanted to make them nice games into scary things, but he sure did a good job of it. They look like real movie posters, they do. Like them scary movies they show on the TV sometimes, the ones I don’t watch ’cause they give me bad dreams.
These board game horror movie posters are very good. There was another one, Clue, that’s the name. I seen that one a long time ago, on the TV. It was a movie, a scary one, back in, uh, ’85, I think they said. Folks liked it, though. Said it was a classic, whatever that means. This picture, it had that same spooky feel, like that old movie. They say it’s a cult classic film, like that’s a good thing. This Justin fella, he sure knows how to make things spooky.
They call this one picture “Game of Death”. Sounds scary, don’t it? It’s like a board game, but it’s got a screen, like them little games the young’uns play with their thumbs. They all put their fingers on a skull, that’s how they start. It says it is to play a game. Spooky, very spooky indeed. These board game horror movie posters are making my head spin.
I don’t know about these horror game posters. They sure are somethin’ to look at. Makes you think, I guess. Makes you think about how somethin’ simple can be turned into somethin’ scary. Makes you wonder what’s goin’ on in that Justin fella’s head.
These pictures, they’re all over the place now. Folks are talkin’ about ’em. They say they’re unique, that means there ain’t nothin’ else like ’em. That might be true. I ain’t never seen nothin’ like ’em, that’s for sure. They’re spreadin’ around like seeds in the wind, these board game horror movie posters. He’s got millions of designs, they say. Millions! Can you imagine?
Well, I guess that’s all I gotta say about them pictures. They’re somethin’ else, that’s for sure. Scary, but somethin’ else. They are really good horror movie posters. These board game horror movie posters make people talk about them. That Justin fella, he sure made a stir with these things. He turned them games, them board games, into somethin’ different. Somethin’… spooky. They are good horror movie posters, you know. Makes my old heart skip a beat just thinkin’ about ’em.
