Alright, let’s talk about this Netflix thing and that Kamala Harris woman. I heard folks are gettin’ all riled up ‘cause some big shot at Netflix, this Reed Hastings fella, he’s throwin’ his support behind her. Don’t rightly know why everyone’s makin’ such a fuss, politicians are always scratchin’ each other’s backs, ain’t they?
Now, I ain’t too savvy with all this fancy technology and them “streamin'” doo-dads. My grandbaby showed me once, all them movies and shows poppin’ up on the screen like magic. But I reckon if folks are payin’ their hard-earned money for it, they got a right to be upset if the company starts playin’ politics.
See, this Hastings fella, he’s the big cheese at Netflix, the one who started the whole shebang. He’s comin’ out and sayin’ he likes this Kamala Harris and wants her to be president. He’s even givin’ her money, lots of it, from what I hear. Now, some folks, they don’t take too kindly to that. They say, “Hey, I’m payin’ for movies, not for your political opinions!” And I reckon they got a point.
- People are cancellin’ their Netflix, that’s for sure. They say they don’t want their money goin’ to support no politician they don’t like.
- And this ain’t just a few folks, it’s a whole heap of ‘em. I heard tell it was the worst day for cancellations Netflix ever had. That’s gotta sting, even for a big company like that.
- Now, some other folks are sayin’ this Hastings fella, he’s just speakin’ his mind, and that’s his right. And they right too, it’s America ain’t it. But when you run a big company like Netflix, you gotta figure your words carry more weight.
It’s like this, if the fella who sells you eggs down at the market started yellin’ about who to vote for, you might start thinkin’ about buyin’ your eggs somewhere else, right? Same kinda thing, I reckon.
Some say this Kamala Harris, she ain’t even gettin’ money directly from Netflix, the company itself. It’s just this Hastings guy, personally. But folks don’t always see it that way. They see the Netflix name, and they figure that’s who’s supportin’ her. And if they don’t like her, well, they ain’t gonna stick around.
It’s all a big mess, if you ask me. Politics always is. Folks gettin’ all worked up, arguin’ and fussin’. Me, I just wanna watch my stories and not have to worry about who’s votin’ for who. But I guess that ain’t the way the world works these days.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ whether this Kamala Harris is good or bad, or whether this Hastings fella should keep his mouth shut. That ain’t my place. I’m just tellin’ you what I hear, what folks are sayin’ down at the store and at the church social. And they’re sayin’ they’re mad. They’re sayin’ they’re done with Netflix. And that’s gotta make that Hastings fella think twice, don’t you reckon?
This whole thing just goes to show, you gotta be careful what you say and who you support, especially when you’re runnin’ a big company that folks depend on for their entertainment. People got strong opinions, and they ain’t afraid to let you know it. And in this day and age, with everyone talkin’ on them internets and such, word spreads fast. One minute you’re the king of the hill, the next you’re gettin’ run out of town. It’s a tough world, I tell ya, a tough world.
So, that’s the story as I see it. Netflix, Kamala Harris, and a whole lot of angry folks. It’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Maybe folks will forget about it, maybe they won’t. Only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure, this ain’t the last time we’ll see politics and business gettin’ all mixed up. It’s just the way things are these days, I guess.
