Alright, so today I wanted to share my experience diving into the script of “Dumb and Dumber.” Yeah, the classic 1994 comedy. I’ve always loved this movie, and at one point in my life, I could recite the whole thing. It’s just so hilariously stupid.
First off, I went searching for the script. I found a good PDF copy somewhere. I mean, who doesn’t love a good PDF, right? It’s so easy to read and search through.
I started reading, and man, it brought back memories. The movie follows these two good-hearted but incredibly dumb friends, Harry and Lloyd, on a crazy road trip. They’re trying to return a briefcase to Mary, who Lloyd is totally in love with, from Providence to Aspen. Little do they know, the briefcase is full of ransom money.
The Journey Begins
- I dug into the first few pages. It starts with Harry and Lloyd just being, well, dumb. The dialogue is just gold. I could practically hear Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in my head. One of my favorite lines comes pretty early: “I gotta squeeze a lemon.” It’s just so random and stupid, it cracks me up every time.
- Then I moved on to the part where Lloyd sees Mary leave the briefcase at the airport. This is where the whole adventure kicks off. He’s so determined to get it back to her, thinking he’s some kind of hero.
The Road Trip
- Next, I skipped ahead to the road trip scenes. It is filled with their crazy antics and misunderstandings.
- I also noticed how the script describes the different locations. They filmed in a bunch of places, like Rhode Island, Colorado, and Utah. The Big Blue Bug in Providence is mentioned, which is a pretty iconic landmark. I remember seeing that place once.
- They even used the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, which is pretty cool.
After spending a good chunk of time with the script, I realized how much detail goes into writing a movie. Even a silly comedy like “Dumb and Dumber” has a lot of thought behind it. It’s not just about the jokes; it’s about the characters, the plot, and the whole journey.
I ended my little script adventure feeling pretty good. It was fun to revisit one of my favorite movies in a new way. Plus, it made me appreciate the movie even more. If you’re a fan of “Dumb and Dumber,” I definitely recommend checking out the script. It’s a wild ride, just like the movie itself.
I just love how those two friends can make such a mess, but in the end, they are so pure that I just cant help but laugh. What a great movie, I just might watch it again.
