Well now, let me tell ya, them city folks are always lookin’ for somethin’ to watch on that there Netflix thingy. And wouldn’t ya know it, they even got movies about folks trompin’ through the woods! Yup, walkin’ movies, they call ’em. Hiking, I think. Anyways, let’s see what they got, huh?

First off, there’s this one called “Happiness for Beginners.” Sounds like somethin’ them self-help folks would watch, eh? It’s about this woman, see, she’s all heartbroken after gettin’ herself unhitched. So, what does she do? She goes and signs up for one of them walkin’ trips, a real tough one, too. Guess she figured she could walk off all that sadness. I reckon that’s one way to do it. Walk and walk until you forget all about that good-for-nothin’ husband.

Then there’s this other one, “The Ritual.” Now this one’s a bit spooky, I tell ya. It’s about these four fellas, been friends for a long time, but seems like they ain’t gettin’ along so well no more. So they go off into the woods in Sweden, of all places. And let me tell ya, things get weird. Real weird. Woods can do that to ya, you know. Make ya see things, hear things. Makes ya think maybe you shoulda just stayed home and watched the corn grow.

  • But hey, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ real, somethin’ based on a true story, then you gotta watch “Into the Wild.” This one’s about a young fella, Christopher McCandless, he was called. Smart kid, but restless. Didn’t want to live like everybody else. So he goes off into the wilderness, Alaska way, I think. And he tries to live off the land. It ain’t easy, though. Livin’ out there, it ain’t no picnic. It’ll test ya, push ya to your limits. And sometimes, it’ll break ya.
  • Now, I heard tell there’s other ones too, like “Wild” and “A Walk in the Woods.” Haven’t seen ’em myself, but folks say they’re good. “Wild” is about this woman who walks a real long ways, thousands of miles I hear. Musta had some strong shoes, that’s for sure. And “A Walk in the Woods,” well, that one’s about two old fellas tryin’ to hike the Appalachian Trail. Sounds like a laugh, don’t it? Two old codgers tryin’ to act like they’re young again.

So, there ya have it. A whole bunch of movies about walkin’ in the woods. Some are happy, some are sad, some are scary. But they all got one thing in common: they show ya that there’s somethin’ special about bein’ out there in nature. Somethin’ that can heal ya, challenge ya, and maybe even change ya. Me, I prefer sittin’ on my porch, watchin’ the squirrels. But hey, to each their own, right? If you like watchin’ people walk, then Netflix has got you covered. Just don’t forget your bug spray. And maybe a snack or two. Them woods can make a person hungry.

Now, them city folk reviewers, they got a lot to say about “Happiness for Beginners.” Some like it, some don’t. One fella said it was a “camping comedy” but that it “should take a hike.” Guess he didn’t like it much. But then again, what do them city folks know about real life anyways? They spend all their time indoors, starin’ at them screens. They wouldn’t know a real tree if it fell on ’em.

Anyways, if you’re lookin’ for a movie about hiking, Netflix has got plenty to choose from. Just remember, life is like a hike, sometimes it’s uphill, sometimes it’s downhill, but you gotta keep on movin’. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll find a little happiness along the way.
