Alright, let’s talk about this Netflix drum thing, you know, the one they call Count Me In. I watched it the other day, and well, it’s about drums. Lots of drums and the folks who bang on ‘em.
So, this movie, it’s like a big ol’ party for drummers. They got all sorts in there, old fellas, young fellas, all smilin’ and talkin’ ‘bout hittin’ things. Seemed like they all really love them drums, more than I love my biscuits, and that’s sayin’ somethin’.
They talk about how they got started, you know, bangin’ on pots and pans as kids, just like my grandson used to do before he got that fancy video game thing. And they talk about the music, all kinds of music, loud music, quiet music, fast music, slow music. It’s all drums, drums, drums.
- They got this one fella, real famous, I think. He talks a lot about feelin’ the music, you know, in your gut. Says it ain’t just about hittin’ the drums, it’s about makin’ ‘em talk. I guess that makes sense, though my old rooster talks plenty and he ain’t never touched a drum.
- And there are these other drummers, they play all different kinds of drums. Some have a whole mess of ‘em, big ones, small ones, shiny ones, looks like more than you’d find in a whole hardware store. And some just got a few, but they make ‘em sound like a whole band. It’s kinda magical, like how my cousin makes a whole meal outta just potatoes and onions.
- They also show lots of old footage, you know, black and white stuff. Drummers from way back when, beatin’ on them drums like they were mad at ‘em. Guess drums have been around a long time, longer than my old shed, that’s for sure.
Now, I ain’t no music expert, not one bit. I like a good tune on the radio now and then, somethin’ you can tap your feet to. But this drum movie, it got me thinkin’. These folks, they ain’t just hittin’ things, they’re tellin’ stories. Stories without words, just beats and rhythms. It’s like a whole different language, and these drummers, they speak it real good.
This Count Me In thing on Netflix, it shows you how much work goes into playin’ them drums. It ain’t just bangin’ away, it’s practice, practice, practice. Hours and hours of it, just like my niece practicin’ her pie makin’. She makes a mean apple pie now, all thanks to that practice. These drummers, they’re the same way, just with drums instead of pies.
The movie also shows you how much joy these drummers get from playin’. They’re up there on stage, smilin’ and sweatin’, and you can see they’re havin’ the time of their lives. It’s like when the whole town gets together for the summer picnic, everyone’s just happy to be there, sharin’ good food and good company. These drummers, they’re sharin’ good music.
And you know, it ain’t just about the rock and roll music either. They talk about jazz, and blues, and all sorts of different styles. It’s like a big ol’ gumbo, all mixed together, but it still tastes good, you know? That’s what the drums do, they bring all the different sounds together, make it all one big song.
So, if you like music, or if you just like watchin’ people who are really good at somethin’, then you might like this Netflix drum documentary. It’s a bit loud at times, mind you, so maybe don’t watch it when the baby’s sleepin’. But it’s a good movie, shows you a whole world you might not know nothin’ about. And that ain’t a bad thing, learnin’ somethin’ new every now and then. Keeps your mind sharp, like eatin’ them brain-booster pills the doctor’s always talkin’ about. Though, I still prefer a good cup of coffee for that.
This documentary, it ain’t just about drums, it’s about passion. These drummers, they got fire in their bellies, and they let it out through their music. It’s inspirin’, makes you wanna go out and find somethin’ you love that much, somethin’ that makes you wanna bang on somethin’, even if it’s just pots and pans, like those drummers did when they were kids. Just makes sure it ain’t my good pots, ya hear?
Anyways, that’s my two cents on that drum documentary on Netflix. Go watch it if you want, or don’t. Makes no difference to me. I got my own beatin’ to do, got to go shoo that pesky squirrel away from my bird feeder.
