Today, I wanted to do something to my windows. I live in a place that gets pretty hot, and the sun can be a real pain. So, I thought, why not try out some of that matte window film stuff? I’d heard it can help with the heat and give some privacy, too.
First, I measured my windows. Gotta make sure you get the right amount of film, right? Then, I went online and ordered a roll of matte window film. I picked a simple, frosted kind – nothing too fancy.
When the film arrived, I got everything ready. I cleaned the windows really well, because any dirt or dust will show up under the film. Then, I cut the film to size, leaving a little extra around the edges.

Next, I mixed up some soapy water in a spray bottle. This is the trick to getting the film on without bubbles. I sprayed the window and the back of the film really generously. Then, I carefully placed the film on the window, starting from the top.
I used a little squeegee thing to smooth out the film and push out any air bubbles. It was a bit tricky, but I took my time and made sure it was all smooth. Once it was all in place, I trimmed the extra film around the edges with a sharp knife.

And that’s it! Now my windows have this nice, frosted look. It definitely cuts down on the glare, and I feel like it’s a bit cooler in here, too. Plus, I get a little more privacy, which is nice. Overall, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It wasn’t too hard to do, and it made a noticeable difference. If you’re thinking about trying it, I’d say go for it!

Of course, there are some things to think about. If you go for a darker tint, it can make it harder to see outside. So, there’s that to consider. And it can cost a bit to get it done, especially if you have a lot of windows. But for me, I think it was worth it.
