Okay, so I’ve been on this kick lately, trying to find movies that give me the same vibes as “French Kiss.” You know, that classic with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline? It’s got that whole charming, fish-out-of-water, romantic comedy thing going on, set against the beautiful backdrop of France. I just love it.

Watching Marathon
First up, I watched “A Good Year.” It’s got Russell Crowe, and it’s set in Provence. It was okay, definitely had some beautiful scenery. But it wasn’t quite what I was looking for. It was more about a guy rediscovering himself than a romantic comedy, you know?
Next, I tried “Sabrina.” I watched the newer version with Harrison Ford. It was cute, had that whole Cinderella thing going on, but it didn’t really capture the magic of “French Kiss.” Maybe it was just me, but it felt a little too… predictable?
I also watched “Midnight In Paris,” which a lot of people seem to love. It’s got Owen Wilson, and it’s about this writer who magically travels back in time to the 1920s. It was definitely interesting, and the Paris setting was gorgeous. But again, it wasn’t exactly a romantic comedy like “French Kiss.” It was more… whimsical, I guess?

So, after watching those, I went back to my list. I realized I needed to be a bit more specific in what I was looking for. It’s not just about being in France or being a romantic comedy. It’s about the specific combination of things that “French Kiss” has. That charm, that humor, that little bit of adventure, the chemistry between the leads.
I’m still on the hunt, to be honest. I’ve added a few more movies to my list, like “Le Divorce” and “Amelie.” I’m hopeful that one of them will hit the spot. This whole process has been fun, though.
