They’re more about catchin’ the bad guy, you know? “The Captive” is more about the feelin’ of being lost, of not knowin’. It’s like when your cow gets out of the pasture, and you gotta go lookin’ for it in the dark, and you don’t know if it’s okay or if a coyote got it. I have been through that.
There’s this other movie, “Fallen”, I think it was called. It was kinda spooky, with that demon thing jumpin’ from person to person. Not really like “The Captive”, but it had that same kind of… I don’t know… that same kind of worryin’ feelin’ to it. I don’t like demons. Too much for me!
Movies like the captive are a kind of special. It gives you that feel like waiting. Like when you’re waitin’ for the rain to come after a long dry spell, and you know it’s comin’, you can feel it in the air, but you just don’t know when.

There’s a show on that Netflix thing, also called “Captive”. It’s about real-life kidnappin’s. It ain’t for the faint of heart, I tell ya. I can’t handle that. But if you like that kind of true stuff, you might want to check it out. Just don’t come cryin’ to me when you can’t sleep at night! It is definitely movies like the captive.
I remember this one movie, “Frailty”. That one was a real mind-bender. It’s about a fella who thinks God is tellin’ him to kill people. It’s all mixed up with family and secrets and such. It will make you feel all kinds of ways, that’s for sure. All kinds of ways.
There’s somethin’ about these kinds of movies that just gets under your skin. They’re like a splinter you can’t quite get out. They stay with you. They make you think. They make you feel.
I like movies like the captive, they have taken cues from that movie “Se7en”. That movie is a legend. Some say all those kind of movies that came out later took its cues and made their own things. That movie must be great. I never saw it. But if you like movies like the captive, you will probably like it.
