Okay, so I’ve been meaning to check out what’s new at Redbox, you know, for a chill movie night. I finally got around to it, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a process, but a fun one.

First, I headed over to the Redbox kiosk near my place. I was looking for something new and exciting, maybe a blockbuster or something that just came out. I scanned through the options on the screen. They had a bunch of movies, but nothing really caught my eye at first. It felt like they didn’t have the newest releases I was hoping for.

Then, I remembered reading somewhere that Redbox also has movies on demand. So, I decided to give that a try. I whipped out my phone and started browsing their VOD selection.

Found some interesting titles there, stuff like “Candyman” and “Dune” from a while back. They also mentioned “The Suicide Squad” as one of the good ones. It got me thinking, maybe the movie companies aren’t sending physical DVDs to Redbox as much anymore. It’s probably way easier for them to just sell the rights to streaming services like Amazon or Netflix. Makes sense, right?

Anyway, I ended up renting a movie through VOD. It was super convenient, no need to return a physical disc. But then I got curious about their rental policy. Apparently, if you keep a physical disc for like 17 days, they just consider it yours, and you’re charged for it. For games, it’s 23 days. Interesting, huh?

My Redbox Findings

  • Checked out the kiosk first, but the selection was a bit meh.
  • Tried their VOD service and it was much better.
  • Learned that movie companies might be ditching physical DVDs for Redbox.
  • Discovered their rental policy – keep a movie for 17 days and it’s yours!

So, that was my little Redbox adventure. It wasn’t exactly what I expected, but I still managed to find something to watch and learned a few things along the way. I guess that’s how it goes sometimes, you start with one plan and end up somewhere completely different, but still cool.
