Well, howdy there! Let me tell ya, they got this new thing out, a movie they call it, somethin’ about Christians. They’re showin’ it in them picture houses now, what they call “theaters.” New Christian Movie in Theaters Now, that’s what they’re hollerin’.
Now, I ain’t no fancy movie critic, mind you. I just go to the pictures sometimes when my corns ain’t achin’ too bad. But this one, they say it’s about God and the country. Heard some folks talkin’ down at the general store, sayin’ it’s called God & Country. They were jabberin’ somethin’ about how it shows what happens when folks get all mixed up about bein’ Christian and bein’ all patriotic and stuff. Sounds like a whole lotta fuss to me, but what do I know? I just grow my taters and try to keep the chickens outta the garden.
They got other movies too, not just this one. Seems like they always got some new somethin’ comin’ out. Heard tell of one about a woman named Michelle, somethin’ about joy and bein’ a servant of God. Radiating Joy: The Michelle Duppong Story, they call it. Now, that sounds a bit more like somethin’ I could get behind. Joy’s a good thing, ya know? We all need a little more joy in our lives, what with the price of eggs goin’ up and all.

- Talkin’ about discounts and sales on these new Christian movies.
- Limited time offer, they say. Well, I say, if it’s good, it’ll still be good next week. No need to rush.
And if you ain’t goin’ to the picture house, you can watch ’em on that new-fangled box they got, the “tee-vee” they call it. Or on them computin’ machines. Heard they got all sorts of shows and movies on them things now. You can watch ’em whenever you want, day or night. They say you can even watch ’em for free for a spell, a “free trial” they call it. But watch out, they’ll try to get ya hooked and then start chargin’ ya, just like them phone companies.
Folks are always lookin’ for somethin’ new to watch, seems like. They got their shows and their movies, all comin’ out all the time. They’re on the tee-vee, in the picture houses, and even on them computin’ things. Can’t keep up with it all, I tell ya. I reckon it’s all just a way to keep folks entertained so they don’t think too hard about what’s really goin’ on in the world. Kinda like them fancy circuses they used to have, all flash and noise, but not much substance.
But hey, if it makes folks happy, I reckon it’s alright. Just don’t go spendin’ all your money on them movies and forget to pay your bills, ya hear? And don’t go believin’ everything you see on that screen, neither. A lotta it’s just make-believe, ya know? Just like them stories they tell down at the barbershop, half-truths and whole lies mixed up together. Always remember the real things, like family, friends, and good food on the table.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do and your feet ain’t too tired, you could go see this new Christian movie in the theaters. Or you could stay home and watch somethin’ else. It’s your choice. Just remember what I said, don’t get too caught up in all that Hollywood hoopla. There’s more to life than sittin’ in a dark room watchin’ pictures move around.
And that’s all I got to say about that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on them chickens. Them varmints been gettin’ at ’em again, and I ain’t got time for all this movie talk.
