More than 25 years after his tragic death, John F. Kennedy, Jr. remains an icon for his charm, his status as American royalty and — last but not least — his laid-back sense of style.
And while the late George magazine founder frequently sported Tag Heuer and Rolex watches (he infamously traded a Paul Newman Daytona watch for a Nikon camera lens), there was another affordable timepiece that he frequently paired with his sharply-tailored suits. Among the most iconic images of JFK Jr. is when he was spotted leaving his publication’s mid-town Manhattan offices wearing none other than the Timex Intrepid Indiglo diver watch.
First released in 1995, the 46mm stainless steel piece appeared on the late journalist’s wrist in September of 1996, about three years before he tragically died in a plane crash with his wife, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and her sister, Lauren Bessette. Timex recently reissued the ’90s style, which promptly sold out on its website. But there’s good news for watch collectors (or Father’s Day gift hunters): the under-$200 watch is still in stock at designer Todd Snyder’s website.

For the re-issue, Timex teamed with Dimepiece and Foundwell to bring back the dive-inspired dial, which features an Indigo backlight for nighttime visibility and “a unique crown placement at 4 o’clock, a robust black synthetic rubber strap, and a clean white dial with an angled reflector ring and prominent hour markers,” per the company.
Water resistant up to 100 meters, the wallet-friendly watch is finished with ” a slide rule bezel featuring logarithmic scales that allow you to tackle calculations such as multiplication, division, percentages and other unit conversions.”
Verified buyers have left rave reviews for the iconic wrist clock, noting that it features a “comfortable fit … without being ‘heavy’ on the wrist.’” Others call the Timex 1995 Intrepid Reissue “non assuming” and “classic,” and that it fits true to size.
