Alright, so today I decided to check out some new horror movies on Redbox. I’ve heard some mixed reviews, but hey, who doesn’t love a good scare, right?

First off, I went to the Redbox website to see what was available. I noticed a few titles that I hadn’t seen before. I did a quick search on my phone for some reviews, checking websites like Dread Central and Bloody Disgusting. These sites are usually pretty spot-on with their horror movie recommendations.

I also remembered that IFC Midnight often has some decent horror flicks, so I looked up what they’ve been putting out lately. You know, they’re kind of hit or miss, but sometimes you find a real gem.

After browsing for a bit, I picked a couple of movies that sounded interesting. I mean, the titles alone were enough to pique my curiosity. I grabbed my wallet, headed out to the nearest Redbox kiosk, and rented them. Pretty straightforward, you know?

Once I got home, I made some popcorn – gotta have snacks for a movie night – and settled in on the couch. The first movie I watched was… well, it was okay. Not the best, but it had its moments. A few good jump scares, some creepy atmosphere, but the story was kind of all over the place.

The second movie, though, that one was actually pretty good! It had a really unique premise, and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Definitely worth the rental. I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say it involved some seriously messed up stuff.

After the movies, I felt that familiar adrenaline rush you get after watching something scary. I decided to do something to take my mind off it, like reading a book. Sometimes I go for a walk or do some exercise – anything to distract myself, really.

Some other things I tried:

  • Checked Vudu: Sometimes they have early access titles.
  • Watched Scary Movie: Classic on Netflix, always good for a laugh after a horror movie.
  • Followed favorite directors: I keep an eye on what directors I like are up to. Sometimes you find some cool indie projects that way.

All in all, it was a fun little experiment. Not every movie was a winner, but I discovered at least one new horror flick that I really enjoyed. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more new releases on Redbox. And if you’ve got any recommendations, hit me up! I’m always looking for the next good scare.
