Alright, so I heard about this documentary called “Drum and Bass: The Movement” on Netflix, and I was like, “Okay, I gotta check this out.” I’ve always been into different kinds of music, and drum and bass has this crazy energy that I find pretty awesome.

So, first thing I did was grab my laptop, get comfy on the couch, and log in to my Netflix account. Then, I used that little search bar at the top, typed in “Drum and Bass,” and boom, there it was. It had this cool-looking picture with all these people dancing and stuff, so I clicked on it.

Watching the Documentary

The documentary started playing, and man, it was interesting! It kicked off with the history of drum and bass. Like, where it came from, and how it got so big. They were showing all these old-school pictures and videos of raves and clubs from back in the day.

  • The Early Days: They talked about how it all started in the UK, mixing different sounds like jungle, and reggae. I didn’t even know all that!
  • The Vibe: There were interviews with these DJs and producers, and they were talking about the vibe of the music, how it makes you feel, all that good stuff.
  • The Evolution: The doc went on to explain how drum and bass evolved over time, with new subgenres popping up. It’s like, constantly changing and growing.
  • Global Impact: And get this – it wasn’t just a UK thing. The film showed how drum and bass spread all over the world, with scenes popping up in different countries. Crazy, right?

Digging Deeper

After I finished watching, I was kind of hyped up. I wanted to know more! So, I started Googling some of the artists they mentioned in the documentary.

I ended up finding some of their music on streaming apps and gave them a listen. Some of it was really cool, and I even found some new favorites. I listened to these tracks all day after that.

Oh, and I also found this one website, it had articles and stuff about the history of drum and bass. I spent a good chunk of time reading through those. It was like falling down a rabbit hole, but in a good way.

Sharing the Experience

Later that week, I was chatting with my friends, and I brought up the documentary. I was like, “Hey, you guys gotta check this out!” and I told them all about it. A couple of them seemed interested, so maybe they’ll watch it too. That would be pretty sweet, having someone to talk about it with. This documentary has inspired me to learn to play the drums myself!

I even thought about making a playlist of all the cool drum and bass tracks I discovered. It would be awesome to share it with others and maybe get them into it as well. Music is all about sharing, right?

Anyway, that’s my little adventure with the “Drum and Bass: The Movement” documentary. It was a fun ride, and I learned a bunch of stuff I didn’t know before. I know some guy who has made a name for himself rating music in movies, I wonder what he’d rate this. Definitely worth a watch if you’re into music documentaries or just want to explore something new!
