Alright, so I decided to jump into the whole “movie auditions” thing in New Jersey. Yeah, you heard that right. I, a regular person, decided to try and become a movie star. Or at least an extra. Anyway, I figured, why not? Might as well give it a shot.
First things first, I did some digging online. I mean, where else do you start these days? Turns out, there are a bunch of websites listing casting calls for all sorts of projects. Big movies, small movies, TV shows, even commercials. Who knew, right? I stumbled upon this one called “StarNow” that had a ton of listings for New Jersey. That seemed like a good place to start.
Then I found another website called “allcasting” which mainly for theater, and I gave it a shot. I was surprised to see some opportunities near Jersey City.
So, I started browsing through the listings. Most of them were for extras, which is basically a background person. You know, the people walking down the street or sitting in a cafe while the main characters do their thing. Not exactly glamorous, but hey, it’s a start.
- I found one for a skincare commercial. They were looking for both men and women, and it was paying $2,500 for a day’s work! Not bad, right? I mean, I do have pretty good skin, if I do say so myself.
- There was another one for a movie called “History of Sound” that was filming in the area. I applied for that one too, figuring the more I apply for, the better my chances.
I filled out a bunch of those online forms, uploaded a few pictures of myself, and hit “submit.” Now, it’s just a waiting game. I’m not expecting to hear back from all of them, but hopefully, at least one will pan out.
I also heard that Netflix often works with different production companies, and each one has its own way of casting. So, there’s not really one single way to get an audition. Some use casting websites, some use agents, and some even use social media. I don’t have an agent, so I’m sticking to the websites for now.
Honestly, the whole process is a bit overwhelming. There are so many listings, and it’s hard to know which ones are legit and which ones are scams. But I’m trying to stay positive and just keep applying. You never know, right?
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll at least get a call for an audition. Even if I don’t get the part, it would be cool to just experience the whole audition process. I mean, how many people can say they’ve auditioned for a movie?
So yeah, that’s where I’m at right now. Waiting to hear back, hoping for the best, and trying not to get my hopes up too much. It’s a long shot, I know, but it’s been a fun experience so far. I’ll keep you guys updated if anything happens. Wish me luck!
