Alright, let’s talk about this White Bird in a Blizzard movie, you know, the one with that girl from those teenage movies. Shailene Woodley, yeah, that’s her name. I watched it the other day, and well, it was somethin’ alright.
This movie, it’s about this girl, Kat, see? She’s like, seventeen or somethin’, and her momma, she just up and vanishes. Poof! Gone like a fart in the wind. Eva Green plays the momma, real pretty lady, but kinda strange, you know? Always wearin’ fancy clothes and lookin’ like she’s got secrets. And Christopher Meloni, he’s the dad, a bit of a stick-in-the-mud if you ask me.
So, this Kat, she’s all confused and whatnot. Her momma’s gone, and nobody knows where she went. The cops, they ain’t doin’ much, and her dad, well, he’s just kinda there, not sayin’ much. The whole thing happens back in 1988, so no cell phones or fancy internet stuff to help find her.
- The movie jumps around a lot, back and forth in time. One minute Kat’s a teenager, the next she’s a little girl, then back again. Kinda made my head spin a bit, to be honest.
- And the momma, Eve, she’s a real piece of work. She’s unhappy, you can tell. Stuck in a boring marriage, I guess. She drinks a lot and flirts with other men. Not a good way to live, I tell ya.
- Then there’s this detective, played by Angela Bassett. She’s tough, this one. Don’t take no guff from nobody. She tries to figure out what happened to Eve, but it ain’t easy.
The movie, it’s kinda slow at times. Lots of talkin’ and not much happenin’. But then, bam! Something big happens, and you’re all like, “Whoa, didn’t see that comin’!” See, it turns out the momma, she was havin’ an affair with this younger fella. And then, well, things get messy.
I ain’t gonna spoil it for ya, but let’s just say there’s a dead body, a frozen body at that. And it ain’t a pretty sight, lemme tell ya. The whole thing was real sad, if you ask me. All these people, just messin’ up their lives. The movie is like one of them gone girl mysteries, but set back in the old days.
Now, Shailene Woodley, she did a good job playin’ Kat. You could see she was hurtin’ and confused. And Eva Green, she was good too, even though her character wasn’t very likable. Christopher Meloni, well, he was alright, I guess. Played a typical clueless dad pretty well.
The movie is based on a book, by some lady named Laura Kasischke. I ain’t read it, but I heard it’s pretty good. The movie, it’s kinda artsy, you know? Lots of fancy camera work and music. Sometimes it felt like they were tryin’ too hard to be deep, but what do I know? I’m just an old lady who likes a good story.
Overall, I’d say White Bird in a Blizzard is worth watchin’ if you like them mystery dramas. It ain’t gonna make you laugh, that’s for sure. But it’ll keep you guessin’ till the end. And it might make you think a little bit about life and love and all that messy stuff. Just don’t expect no shoot-em-up action or nothin’. This here’s a slow burn, ya hear?
And that ending, well, it’s a doozy. Didn’t see that comin’ at all. It kinda makes you think about how you treat the people you love, ’cause you never know when they might be gone. So yeah, White Bird in a Blizzard, it’s a decent movie. Not the best I’ve ever seen, but certainly not the worst neither. Go watch it yourself and see what you think. Just don’t expect no happy-go-lucky tale, cause this ain’t it.
