Alright, let’s talk about them picture shows, the movie theaters, you know? Especially them ones ’round Carolina Beach. I ain’t been to all of ’em, mind you, but I hear things, see things, and I got a good head on my shoulders, even if it’s a bit old.
First off, finding a movie theater ain’t hard. Just look around, ask someone. Folks these days got them fancy phones, they can find anything. You want showtimes? Them phones got ’em. You want tickets? Them phones sell ’em too. Heck, back in my day, we just showed up and hoped for the best! Now you got this Fandango thing, everyone’s talking about it. Says it finds all the movies and theaters near you. Sounds mighty convenient, I reckon.
Now, ’bout the theaters themselves. I hear there’s a bunch. Some big, some small. There’s this Stone Theatres – The Pointe 14. Sounds fancy, fourteen screens! That’s a lot of pictures. Then you got Surf Cinemas. Probably plays them surfer movies, huh? I ain’t never seen one of them, but them young folks seem to like ’em. Regal Mayfaire, that one’s probably big too. Big names, big places. And some smaller ones, like State Line Movie Time. Don’t matter much to me, long as the seats are comfy and the picture’s clear.
Speaking of seats, you wanna know the best place to sit? Well, some folks say it’s right smack in the middle, ’bout two-thirds of the way back. Makes sense, I guess. You can see everything good, and the sound ain’t too loud or too soft. But me? I like the aisle. Gotta stretch these old legs, ya know? And if the movie’s bad, I can make a quick getaway!
And don’t even get me started on them young couples making out in the dark. Look, I ain’t no prude, but keep it down, will ya? A little peck here and there, fine. But if you’re gonna be slobbering all over each other, go find a room! You ain’t the only ones in the theater, and nobody wants to hear all that smackin’. Just be respectful, that’s all I’m saying.
If it’s raining, well, a movie theater is a good place to hide out. I remember this Carmike 16 over in Wilmington. Plenty of screens there too, something for everyone. You can spend a whole afternoon watching them pictures and staying dry. That’s a good deal, I reckon.

Now, some folks like to read reviews before they go. See what other people thought. You can do that too, if you want. There’s this Yelp thing, everyone uses it. They tell you which theaters are good, which ones are bad. Me? I just go and see for myself. Everyone’s got different tastes, ya know?
Finding a theater in Carolina Beach is easy. People talk, you know. You can hear things. Someone mentioned 1018 N. Lake Park Boulevard, said there’s a theater there. And another one on 4836 Long Beach Rd. S.E. in Southport, not too far away. Just ask around, you’ll find ’em.
- Finding Showtimes: Use Fandango or your phone to check movie times.
- Best Seats: Middle of the middle row, about two-thirds back, or the aisle if you need legroom.
- Couple Etiquette: Keep the making out to a minimum, be respectful of others.
- Rainy Day Activity: Movie theaters are a good place to stay dry.
- Reviews: Check Yelp for other people’s opinions, but trust your own judgment.
So, that’s what I know ’bout movie theaters ’round Carolina Beach. Go see a picture, have some popcorn, and enjoy yourself. Just remember to be quiet and keep your hands to yourself!
