Well, if you liked that As Above, So Below movie, I reckon you’ll be after somethin’ just like it, huh? You know, them movies that give you that same creepy, eerie feel and make your skin crawl a bit. They all have that atmosphere that feels like somethin’ ain’t quite right, like you’re right there, trapped, with no way out. The thing about As Above, So Below was how it mixed that real-life history and them dark, twisted mythologies. Made you think, didn’t it? Well, there’s plenty of other films out there that’ll give you that same sensation, if you ask me.
One of the first ones that come to mind is Grave Encounters. Now, I know it’s one of them low-budget flicks, but it’s got that raw footage feel, you know? You’ll feel like you’re watchin’ somethin’ that’s real, just like in As Above, So Below. They both give you that sense of bein’ lost in a place you shouldn’t be, with nothin’ but terror around every corner. And just like the folks in As Above, So Below, these people in Grave Encounters are searchin’ for somethin’ they probably shouldn’t be lookin’ for. That thrill of the unknown, it gets you every time.
Then there’s The Ritual. Now, this one’s set in the woods, but trust me, it’s got that same eerie atmosphere, all dark and twisted. The group of folks goin’ through their own personal struggles end up trapped in somethin’ way bigger than they ever bargained for. They start messin’ with things that are far beyond their comprehension. Sounds like something right outta the same kinda nightmares, don’t it? It’s got the same creepy vibe, especially when they stumble on things that just don’t sit right with ya. Makes you think about what’s out there that we don’t understand.
If you like them historical and mythological aspects in As Above, So Below, then you might wanna check out The Descent. This one’s about a group of women who get stuck in some caves, and let me tell ya, it’s a whole new level of scary. Not only do they have to deal with the dark, but there’s somethin’ else down there with ’em. It’s got them elements that make ya think of ancient things, places forgotten by time. That eerie feeling of bein’ in places where no one should be, ya know?
And then, there’s Hell House LLC. I reckon this one’s a bit like As Above, So Below in that it’s a found footage film, so it’s all about that raw, documentary feel. It’s about a group of people openin’ a haunted house attraction, but of course, things take a turn for the worse. Just like in As Above, So Below, you’ve got them folks who go in search of somethin’ they don’t really understand, and they find more than they bargained for. Real creepy, eerie, and the kind of movie that’ll keep ya lookin’ over your shoulder.
Now, if you want somethin’ a bit more modern, V/H/S/99 is another one of them found footage movies. It’s got that same sense of dread as As Above, So Below, but it mixes in a whole bunch of weird and creepy short stories. Every segment is a bit different, but all of ’em leave ya with that same uneasy feeling. It’s got that low-budget charm, though, which makes it feel more real and up-close. Sometimes, the scarier stuff comes when it feels like you’re right there with ’em, not watchin’ from a distance.
If you’re more into them cult-like, creepy movies, then Hellbender might be right up your alley. It’s got that supernatural vibe, kinda like the stuff in As Above, So Below, but it’s all about a young girl learnin’ about her dark heritage. It’s one of them movies where the more you learn, the more you start feelin’ uneasy. It’s slow-burnin’, but by the end, it’ll have you feelin’ just as trapped as the characters in As Above, So Below.
So, there ya go. A whole bunch of movies that’ll give you that same creepy feelin’ you get when watchin’ As Above, So Below. They all have their own spin on it, but they’ll take ya on a journey you won’t forget. They make ya think, make ya question, and leave you feelin’ like maybe, just maybe, there’s more goin’ on around us than we know.
