Well, if you ask me, there’s a whole lotta movies out there that try to tell the story of them ancient Egyptian gods. You know, them ones like Ra and Osiris? Mighty powerful folks, all those gods, and you can find plenty of movies that try to bring ‘em to life on the big screen. Some of ’em get it real wrong, but they sure do make for an interesting watch. So, if you liked that Gods of Egypt movie, I reckon you might wanna check out these ones, too. Here, I’ll tell you all about ‘em in my own simple way, so you don’t get lost in all them fancy movie talk.
1. The Prince of Egypt (1998)
Now, this here movie ain’t all about them Egyptian gods exactly, but it sure does have a lot to do with Egypt and them old stories from the Bible. It’s about Moses, you know, the one who parted the sea and all that? Moses was raised as a prince in Egypt, but then he went and led his people outta Egypt, all to escape Pharaoh Ramses and his wicked ways. It’s a good one for the young’uns, and there’s a lotta action, too. You might even hum a song or two after watching it!
2. Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)
Now this one’s a bit more gritty and grown-up. It stars Christian Bale as Moses and shows the struggle between Moses and Pharaoh Ramses. There’s a lotta fancy special effects in here, too, like big ol’ waves crashing and all kinds of dramatic battles. It tells the same old story of Moses leading his people outta Egypt, but they make it real dramatic, and you can see all the gods involved in different ways. Some folks liked it, some didn’t, but if you’re into epic battles and history, it’s worth a watch.
3. Cleopatra (1963)
This one’s a real oldie, but I tell ya, it’s got that old-time charm. Ain’t about the gods as much, but you got Cleopatra, the mighty queen, doing her thing in ancient Egypt. It’s full of drama, politics, and, of course, love and betrayal. The movie’s more about Cleopatra and her life, but you can’t talk about Egypt without mentioning all them gods that were part of the culture back then. It’s worth a look if you wanna see what Egypt was like in them days, even if it ain’t all about the gods.
4. Gods of Egypt (2016)
Ah, this here is the big one! Gods of Egypt took all them gods and threw ‘em in a big ol’ action movie. You got Ra, Horus, Set, and all them others, fightin’ and arguin’ about who gets to rule Egypt. The movie’s got all kinds of fancy special effects, and let me tell ya, them gods sure look impressive. But don’t go expectin’ no history lesson; this one’s more about action and fantasy. They ain’t gonna be stickin’ to no real facts. Still, if you like big ol’ battles and crazy gods doin’ their thing, this one’s got plenty of that.
5. Clash of the Titans (2010)
Now, this one don’t exactly have Egyptian gods in it, but if you liked them gods fightin’ in Gods of Egypt, you might like this one, too. It’s all about them Greek gods, like Zeus and Hades, doin’ their own fightin’. There’s plenty of monsters, big ol’ battles, and heroic deeds. It’s not Egypt, but it’s close enough, and you get a good look at them ancient gods all doin’ their thing.
6. The Mummy (1999)
This here’s another one that don’t exactly deal with the gods themselves, but it’s set in Egypt and deals with them ancient curses and magic. You got Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz goin’ on adventures, and they end up awakenin’ an ancient mummy. It’s full of action, and you get to see Egypt’s old ruins and all that, plus some spooky stuff. It ain’t about the gods per se, but if you like Egypt and action, this one’s a fun watch.
7. Hercules (2014)
This one ain’t Egyptian, but like Clash of the Titans, it’s all about them mighty gods. You got Hercules, son of Zeus, goin’ around doin’ heroic things. There’s lots of action, and the gods get involved here and there. If you liked all them big battles and powers from the gods in Gods of Egypt, you’ll probably enjoy this one too. It ain’t exactly the same, but it’s got that same big godly feel to it.
8. Troy (2004)
Now this one’s more about the Greeks, too, but the gods play a big ol’ part. You got Achilles, Hector, and all them legendary warriors, and of course, the gods are up in the mix, making things happen. It’s a big epic movie with battles and gods all around. It ain’t Egyptian, but if you’re into them old stories and battles, you might wanna give this one a go.
So, you see, there’s a whole lotta movies out there that might remind you of Gods of Egypt or give you that same feel of ancient gods, mighty battles, and a whole lotta fantasy. Some are based on Egypt, some on Greece, but they all deal with them mighty gods in their own way. If you like big ol’ epic stories, action, and gods doin’ their thing, you sure got plenty to choose from. Go ahead, grab the popcorn and take your pick!
