Y’all ever been to a good ol’ independent movie theater in Minneapolis? Now, I ain’t talkin’ ’bout them big flashy places like them chains we see all over. Naw, I mean them real spots where you can get a taste of somethin’ different, somethin’ that ain’t all cookie-cutter. Them indie theaters got their own vibe, you know, and they bringin’ films that got heart. Let me tell ya ’bout a few good ones.
First up, you got Riverview Theater, now this place, it’s a gem. It’s one of them theaters that’s been around for years, but don’t let that fool ya. They got the latest tech to show them films in all their glory. From big blockbusters to them artsy flicks that don’t show up nowhere else, Riverview got it all. You can kick back and enjoy a movie like it’s meant to be, in a cozy spot where folks know your name. Ain’t nobody rushin’ you outta there either!
Now, if you lookin’ for somethin’ a lil’ fancier, then head on over to Landmark’s Lagoon Cinema. This place got that fancy feel, but still keeps it local. They show all kinds of films, from the big foreign ones you don’t always see, to them indie flicks that make you think. It’s a nice, comfortable spot, and they really try to bring the best films to the folks in Minneapolis. If you ain’t been there yet, put it on your list. 1320 Lagoon Avenue is where it’s at.
Don’t forget ’bout The Main Cinema neither. This place is perfect for them folk who wanna watch somethin’ that’s off the beaten path. The Main Cinema brings them movies that ain’t playin’ everywhere, you know? It’s perfect for a quiet night out where you wanna see somethin’ new and fresh. They keep it simple but good, and you ain’t gonna find no crowds fussin’ ’round.
Another spot to hit is Show Place ICON Theatre Kitchen in the West End. Don’t be fooled by the name, though, it’s still one of them indie spots, just with a lil’ twist. They got a whole kitchen set up so you can chow down while you watch, and trust me, they got them seats that lean back and make you feel right at home. It’s a good balance between comfort and that indie feel. You get the big screen experience without all the hassle of a crowded theater.
Let’s not forget Trylon Cinema. This one’s a classic. It’s a smaller theater, but don’t let the size fool ya. They show some of the best art films and independent movies that you ain’t gonna find in most places. Trylon’s got a community feel to it, where you come for the movie but stay for the experience. If you want somethin’ more personal and intimate, this is your spot.
