Well, let me tell you somethin’ that happened not long ago that’ll make your blood boil. A man named Michael Gladstein, who used to be some big doctor with a fancy title, well, he and his wife, Marilyn, done gone and done somethin’ terrible. You see, they had themselves a big ol’ house over in Huntington, and they was keepin’ more than 100 dogs in there. I ain’t kiddin’, over 100 of ‘em. Poor things was starvin’ and sufferin’, left to rot in conditions that even a rat wouldn’t tolerate.
Now, these dogs, they wasn’t just any dogs. No, sir. These were young ones—puppies! And what did these people do? They done left ‘em there, hungry, with no proper food, no proper care, and no one to love ‘em. You gotta wonder what kinda heart a person has to let somethin’ like that happen. It ain’t right, no way, no how. The folks at the SPCA, they found 115 dogs all crammed into that house, in a filthy mess, and that’s when the trouble started.
The Gladsteins, well, they got themselves arrested for animal cruelty. Ain’t nobody shocked by that, not after hearin’ what happened in that house. They’re both around 57 years old, and they ain’t gettin’ no sympathy from anyone who found out about their crimes. You see, they was charged with aggravated animal cruelty, which means they went and done somethin’ real bad. Now, I don’t know about you, but if you can look a poor, hungry, sick animal in the eye and just leave ‘em to suffer like that, you got a problem.
Well, after they were arrested, the authorities said they was gonna make sure them poor animals got a better life. And you know, I sure do hope they do. Those dogs deserve so much more than what they got. I ain’t never been one for bein’ cruel to animals, and I don’t care who you are, there ain’t no excuse for what these people did. You just don’t do that. No matter how rich or important you think you are, you don’t treat animals like that. They’re innocent, and they trust us, and when someone like Michael and Marilyn Gladstein breaks that trust, it breaks your heart.
I reckon them Gladsteins thought they could just get away with it all. But, well, the law came knockin’, and now they gotta face what they done. They got themselves arraigned and charged with a big ol’ felony, and I tell ya, it ain’t lookin’ too good for ‘em. They was even asked to pay a big fine, though I can’t say how much good that’ll do, not after all the harm they caused.
But you know, folks like the Gladsteins, they don’t always get what’s comin’ to ‘em in a way that helps those animals. Those poor dogs, I reckon, will need a lot of care and love to get back to bein’ healthy again. Some of ‘em might never forget the terrible things they went through. But I do hope they all find homes with good people who’ll treat ‘em right. They deserve it.
So if you ever think about treatin’ an animal bad, or see someone else doin’ it, you remember this story. The Gladsteins thought they could hide what they was doin’, but in the end, the truth came out. And the law came down hard on ‘em. It’s important, you see, to stand up for animals. They can’t speak for themselves, but we sure can. And we should. Don’t let folks like the Gladsteins think they can get away with treatin’ creatures cruel.
