Well, let me tell ya, if you’re in Albany, New York, and lookin’ to catch a flick, there’s plenty of places to go. See, they got these movie theaters all over, like Regal Colonie Center and Scene One Spectrum 8.
Now, that Regal place, it’s got this fancy thing called RPX. They say it’s somethin’ special with the picture and the sound. Never seen it myself, but folks seem to like it. Think it costs a bit more, though.
- Regal Colonie Center – Fancy RPX thing, costs more maybe.
- Scene One Spectrum 8 – Not sure what they got, but they show movies.
Used to be you could just go to the movies whenever, but now they got these “showtimes.” Means you gotta look at a schedule to see when your picture’s playin’. You can find these showtimes online, on somethin’ called Fandango, or just go to the theater and look.
Speaking of money, goin’ to the movies ain’t cheap no more. Heard tell a ticket in New York City can be as much as 28 dollars! That’s a lot of money just to sit in a dark room. Here in Albany, it’s probably a bit less, but still, you’re gonna shell out some cash.
And don’t get me started on the snacks. They charge an arm and a leg for popcorn and soda. Heard a small popcorn at some place in the city is 10 bucks! Ten dollars for popcorn! You could buy a whole bag of kernels for that much.
If you’re lookin’ for cheaper movies, maybe try goin’ in the afternoon, or on a weekday. Sometimes they have deals then. And if you don’t care about seein’ the newest thing, some theaters show older movies for less.
So, how do you pick which theater to go to? Well, it depends what you’re lookin’ for. That Regal Colonie Center, it’s in the mall, so you can do some shoppin’ before or after. Spectrum 8 is on Delaware Avenue, so maybe easier to get to if you’re in that part of town.
They say there’s over 200 movie theaters in the New York City area, but Albany ain’t that big. Still, you got a few choices. Just figure out what movie you wanna see, when you wanna see it, and how much you wanna spend.
Remember, check those showtimes! Nothin’ worse than showin’ up and findin’ out you missed your picture or it ain’t even playin’ that day.
Some folks like to buy their tickets online ahead of time, but I ain’t never done that. I just go to the theater and get ’em there. Guess it depends on how fancy you wanna be.
And some of these theaters, they show all sorts of movies. Not just the big blockbusters, but other stuff too. “Provocative” films, they call ’em. Don’t know what that means, but if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ different, you might find it at one of these places.
So there you have it. Movie theaters in Albany, New York. Showtimes, prices, snacks, the whole shebang. Go have yourself a good time.
