Must-See Movies from December 2017: Highlights and Box Office Hits

Well, now, if you’re wonderin’ what movies came out back in December 2017, I gotcha covered, sugar! December, bein’ the last month of the year, sure had some good stuff to offer. You know, not just the regular ol’ Christmas movies, but some real big hits too. So sit back, grab yourself a nice cup of tea, and let me tell you ’bout ’em.

Big Movies of December 2017

First up, one of the biggest movies that hit the theaters in December 2017 was Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi. Oh, lord, that movie was everywhere! If you didn’t hear folks talkin’ about it, you must’ve been living under a rock. It had people excited, mad, and all sorts of things. Folks were waitin’ for that film for so long! It continued the story of Rey, Finn, and Poe. And there was that cute little critter, Porgs, which everybody was talkin’ ’bout too.

Then we had another big one called The Greatest Showman. Now, this one wasn’t a space battle or anything, but it had its own magic. It’s a musical, and lord, did it get people singin’! Hugh Jackman, he sure knows how to put on a show, don’t he? Full of songs, dance, and all sorts of glitzy circus tricks. Some folks said it was a little cheesy, but people sure loved it, especially those tunes like This Is Me. The kids loved it, and I gotta say, I didn’t mind it too much myself!

Movies You Might Have Missed

Now, there were some other movies that came out in December that you might’ve missed. Take Phantom Thread for example. Now, that’s a bit fancier. It’s all about a fashion designer in London, played by Daniel Day-Lewis. He’s a real perfectionist, and the movie takes you deep into his crazy world of dresses and power struggles. It wasn’t for everyone, but folks who liked a good drama really took to it.

Then there’s The Post, which is a whole ‘nother kind of movie. It’s about the newspaper world, back in the ’70s, when the Washington Post was tryin’ to publish some secret government documents. Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks lead the cast, and I tell ya, they sure know how to act! This movie got a lot of attention come award season, so you know it’s got somethin’ special to it.

Other Films You Might Wanna Know About

  • Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle – I gotta mention this one too, ‘cause it turned out to be a real surprise hit! Folks loved the comedy, and them jungle adventures were fun. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart had everybody laughin’.
  • Downsizing – Now, this one wasn’t a big crowd-pleaser, but it was somethin’ different. It’s about a feller who shrinks down real small so he can live a life of luxury. Kinda weird, but it made folks think.
  • Pitch Perfect 3 – Oh my goodness, them a cappella singers were back in action! It’s the third one, and let me tell ya, them girls sure know how to sing. It had lots of humor, some catchy tunes, and plenty of girl power!
  • The Disaster Artist – Ever heard of the movie The Room? Well, this movie’s about how that mess of a film got made. It’s funny, strange, and the whole thing is about a guy who’s determined to make his dream movie, even though he’s got no idea what he’s doin’!

Streaming and TV Shows in December 2017

Not only did we have movies in theaters, but December 2017 brought back a whole bunch of TV shows too. The Ranch and Fuller House both had new episodes droppin’. If you liked them shows, you were sure happy ‘bout that! I remember folks on the porch talkin’ ’bout the new seasons and how excited they were to catch up on their favorite characters.

And don’t forget, December is always the month for holiday specials, so you’d see things like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or A Charlie Brown Christmas on the TV. Always a nice little break from the hustle and bustle of the season, I’d say!
