Well now, let me tell ya ’bout this movie, “It Ends With Us.” It’s one of them new ones that’s been getting a lotta buzz, and I reckon I should say somethin’ ’bout it, so folks don’t go wastin’ their time or money if they ain’t gonna like it. The movie’s based on a book by that Colleen Hoover lady, one o’ them bestsellers, I hear. But let me tell ya, just ’cause a book’s popular don’t mean the movie’s gonna be any good, no sir.
Now, if you ask me, this movie’s a bit long. Ain’t no reason for it to go on for two whole hours, that’s for sure. Felt like it was draggin’ on and on, goin’ ’round in circles, tellin’ the same stuff over and over again, and not much new happenin’. I reckon if they’d cut out some of that filler, it mighta been a better watch. It’s like they was just stretchin’ it out to make it fit. You know what I mean? Like when you make a quilt and you ain’t got enough fabric, so you start patchin’ things up in places they don’t quite belong.
Blake Lively’s in it, playin’ Lily, the main gal. Now, don’t get me wrong, she’s a pretty thing, but I gotta say, her character ain’t exactly easy to root for. She’s stuck in a love story with a man who’s troubled and got a past that’s hard to shake. The movie spends a lotta time showin’ her wrestlin’ with what to do, whether she should stay or go. Now, I get that love ain’t always clear-cut, but it gets old real quick watchin’ her make the same decision over and over. It’s like watchin’ someone try to choose between two bowls o’ soup when neither one tastes good!
As for the love scenes, well, they’re not what I was expectin’. I thought it was gonna be all steamy and full of those romance novel moments, but nope, it’s a lotta soft kisses and lookin’ longingly into each other’s eyes. Now, I ain’t sayin’ there’s anything wrong with that, but it’s more about buildin’ up tension than showin’ anythin’ too spicy. You ain’t gonna see nothin’ too explicit, that’s for sure. It’s more about the emotions than the actions, which might be fine for some, but I reckon folks goin’ in lookin’ for a real romance might be a little disappointed.
And I gotta mention somethin’ else—there’s some real heavy stuff in this movie. It deals with domestic violence, and I’ll tell ya, it ain’t easy watchin’ some of those scenes. They don’t sugarcoat it, and it hits ya right in the gut. It’s rated PG-13 for a reason, that’s for sure. If you’ve been through somethin’ like that in your own life, it might bring up some old memories that you ain’t ready to deal with. I can’t say the movie does a perfect job at showin’ the aftermath of abuse, but it sure does make you think about it. It’s a tough subject to tackle, and I reckon it leaves ya feelin’ a bit heavy after it’s all over.
So, what do I think about the movie overall? Well, it’s got some good points, sure. The actors do their best, and the story’s got its moments. But if you ask me, it ain’t as great as people sayin’ it is. Too long, too repetitive, and while it tries to tackle some deep issues, it don’t always hit the mark. Maybe some folks’ll like it, but for me, it just didn’t live up to the hype. Ain’t no way I’d watch it again.
Summary: If you’re lookin’ for a romance that’s all heart and passion, this might not be the one for you. It’s got some good performances and tries to deal with serious issues, but it also drags on and doesn’t always do the topics justice. For me, it’s a pass. But if you’re curious, go ahead, see for yourself. Just don’t expect too much.
